Marathi and Hindi film actress Priya Bapat has revealed an uncomfortable experience from the early days of her career, where a co-actor crossed professional boundaries during a film shoot. She shared that the actor repeatedly kissed her during a song sequence, making her feel uneasy and unsure of how to handle the situation. Bapat mentioned that she lacked the confidence to assert her boundaries at the time.
In an interview with Filmfare, Bapat explained that this incident occurred when she was new to the industry and hadn't yet understood its realities. The film had a single kissing scene, which she questioned the necessity of. Despite her reservations, she agreed to the scene after the director's insistence, viewing it as an opportunity to overcome her acting inhibitions.
Bapat noted that the discomfort extended beyond the shooting floor. The co-actor persistently tried to contact her outside of work, sending messages with offers to teach her swimming, inviting her to dinners, and requesting morning meetings. She consistently declined these advances, stating she was not interested and found the situation unsettling.
During the Bhopal shoot, Bapat confided in her husband, Umesh Kamat, who flew from Mumbai to be by her side for three days. Reflecting on the incident, Bapat mentioned it was the only time in her career she faced such an uncomfortable situation. She is currently working on new projects, including the psychological film 'Dalimb: The Myth'.
