Karisma Kapoor, who once dominated the Hindi film industry, has been away from the big screen for a long time. In a recent interview with The Times of India, the Bollywood actress spoke about her career and passion for work, revealing what kind of projects she wants to do now. Karisma said, 'I have seen the industry up close for decades. I grew up in the industry and had the opportunity to play all kinds of roles, from commercial blockbusters to experimental films. Now, instead of being present everywhere, I choose projects that touch my heart.'
She added, 'Earlier, I had to rush from one set to another. Now, I value time more. I choose projects thoughtfully. I want the time I give to each project to be meaningful. At the same time, I want to spend enough time with my family. The script is important, but the people associated with it and the purpose behind the story are equally important.'
Despite being away from the big screen for a long time, Karisma still feels a special pull towards it, 'The big screen has its own magic. This is where my acting journey began. It will always hold a special place in my heart. However, I also like the storytelling style of OTT platforms. OTT has changed the world of entertainment. Web platforms are bringing complex and deep stories, giving actors the opportunity to play various characters. For someone like me, this is a wonderful field. But I will never leave the big screen.'
Karisma is now in the spotlight with her new series 'Brown', which was released on ZEE5 on June 5. Directed by Abhay Deo, the seven-episode psychological thriller features her as Kolkata Police detective Rita Brown. The series, and Karisma's performance, have received critical acclaim. Besides Karisma, the series also stars Surya Sharma, Soni Razdan, and Jeeshu Sengupta.
