Hollywood actor James Handy, known for roles in 'Jumanji,' 'Top Gun: Maverick,' 'The X-Files,' and 'The West Wing,' has died after being stabbed multiple times at his home in Tarzana, California. He was 81 years old.
Handy was discovered in his front yard with multiple stab wounds to his chest. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Michael Gladhill, a 44-year-old man who is the son of Handy's girlfriend, has been arrested and charged with murder. Los Angeles police reported that Gladhill turned himself in after a mysterious 911 call claiming responsibility for the murder.
James Handy had a career spanning over six decades, appearing in numerous films and television series. His most recent notable role was as a bartender named 'Jimmy' in 'Top Gun: Maverick.'
Following the news of his death, colleagues in Hollywood expressed their condolences. Entertainment journalist Jay Bobbin described Handy as 'an extraordinary character actor,' while author and producer Don Winslow, who worked with Handy on 'UC: Undercover,' called him 'an exceptional actor whose performances were always special.'
