Bollywood star Deepika Padukone's advocacy for mental health awareness was significantly influenced by the death of a close friend. Her father, Prakash Padukone, revealed that this personal tragedy played a crucial role in her decision to establish the Live Love Laugh Foundation. Deepika, who had already spoken publicly about her own struggles with depression in 2015, felt compelled to do more after her friend's death. The foundation aims to increase awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma associated with seeking help.
Prakash Padukone shared that he and his wife fully supported Deepika's decision to speak out about her mental health. He emphasized the importance of seeking professional help for mental health issues, noting that many problems can be managed with counseling or therapy without the need for medication. Despite initial skepticism and criticism, Deepika and her team have continued to work towards normalizing discussions about mental health in India.
In addition to her advocacy work, Deepika Padukone is also preparing for the arrival of her second child and has several film projects in the pipeline, including 'King' with Shah Rukh Khan and a new film directed by Atlee, co-starring Allu Arjun.
