Two Bangladesh films, 'Oloiukik Rajhansh' and 'Before the Earth Collapses', have been selected for the Danang Asian Film Festival's Danang Talents and Project Market. The films are directed by Rajiv Rafi and Japanese director Noriko Yuasa respectively.
'Oloiukik Rajhansh' is based on a local folktale and is being adapted for contemporary audiences. Director Rajiv Rafi mentioned that this is his first film and it is still in the early stages of production. He also highlighted the challenges of finding producers for art house or independent films in Bangladesh.
Rafi expressed his excitement about the international recognition and the opportunity to pitch the film to global producers at the festival. He also mentioned the importance of the co-production strategy workshop for young filmmakers.
The producer of 'Oloiukik Rajhansh', Adnan Imtiaz Ahmed, will travel to Vietnam on June 27 to participate in the festival. The film's key producers include Rubaiyat Hossain and Ashik Mostafa.
'Before the Earth Collapses' is a co-production between Bangladesh and Japan, directed by Noriko Yuasa. Bangladeshi producer Tanvir Hossain, who previously produced the short film 'Ali' that won a special mention at the Cannes Film Festival, is involved in the project. Another producer, Prabin Kumar from Nepal, has a background in film production, having been the production manager for 'The Black Hen', which won an award at the Venice Film Festival.
The Danang Asian Film Festival will run from June 28 to July 4.
