Man Dies in Tragic Accident After Being Crushed Between Two Buses in Dhaka

A man attempting to board a bus in Dhaka's Chankharpool area was tragically crushed between two buses and died.

A man attempting to board a bus in Dhaka's Chankharpool area was tragically crushed between two buses and died. The incident occurred around 4:15 PM on Wednesday in front of the new building of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The deceased, identified as Joy Deb Pandey (38), was a distributor for Royal Laboratories (Herbal Medicine). He hailed from Agailjhara Upazila in Barisal and resided in a rented house in the Jatrabari area of Dhaka.

Shahbag Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Khalek Mia informed Prothom Alo that two buses from Moumita Paribahan involved in the accident have been taken into police custody, and one bus driver has been arrested. The victim's body has been kept in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College.

Eyewitness Musa Gazi recounted that Joydeb was attempting to board a Moumita Paribahan bus when it started moving. Another bus from the same transport company, trying to pass, accelerated, trapping him between the two vehicles. He sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Joy Deb's colleague, Mizanu Rahman, stated, 'Joydeb was my friend and colleague. We both worked as distributors for the same institution. He was returning home to Jatrabari after finishing business in Shahbag when the accident occurred.'

Mizanur Rahman also mentioned that Joy Deb has a two-month-old son, and his family currently resides in their village home.
