A two-day international seminar titled ‘Ecology, Biological and Biochemical Sciences, Agriculture and Population Issues’ was held today at Rajshahi University (RU). The seminar, a significant gathering of minds, aimed to explore the intricate connections between ecology, science, and population dynamics. Vice-Chancellor Prof Md. Faridul Islam attended as the chief guest, alongside Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof Md. Abdul Alim and Prof Mamunur Rashid. The event was a collaborative effort involving multiple departments and institutes at RU.
The seminar was jointly organized by the Department of Population Science and Human Resource Development, the Institute of Environmental Science, the Heat-ATP Sub-project of the Department of Fisheries, and the Career Counseling and Development Center (CCDC). Prof J. A. M. Sakilur Rahman chaired the event, with Prof Md. Nurul Momen, Director of CCDC, delivering the welcome address. Notable attendees included Student Adviser Prof A. H. M. Khurshid Alam and Administrator of the Public Relations Office Prof S. M. Kamruzzaman.
International speakers such as Dr. Monowarul Mobin Siddique from the University of Utah, USA, Emilia Julianti Siregar from Universitas Sumatera Utara, Indonesia, and Dr. Ismail Tarek from Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, shared their insights. A total of 24 papers were presented across two academic sessions, moderated by Assistant Director of CCDC, Prof Md. Golbar Hossain.
The seminar attracted over 100 teachers, researchers, and students, fostering a rich exchange of ideas. Tomorrow, a discussion titled ‘Improving Science Through Multidisciplinary Collaboration’ with young researchers will be held at 9:30 AM at CCDC.
This seminar underscores the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in addressing complex ecological and population issues, promoting collaboration among international experts and local scholars.
