The government has pledged comprehensive support to help rural women expand their handicraft exports to international markets. Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced this during the inauguration of the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) divisional office in Rangpur. He highlighted the significant global demand for handicrafts made by rural women and praised their contributions to the country's economic development through self-reliance and hard work.
Empowerment and Education Initiatives
Minister Alamgir emphasized the government's focus on women's education and empowerment. He noted that the government has taken steps to ensure free education for women up to the graduation level. Additionally, he stressed the importance of technical education in reducing unemployment and meeting the increasing demand for skilled workers in the international labor market.
Regional Development and Export Initiatives
The minister also discussed the government's plans to establish an agricultural hub in the Rangpur region to boost farmers' incomes and ensure proper storage of agricultural produce. He mentioned various initiatives to make regional products export-oriented, promising necessary support to accelerate socio-economic development. The government's efforts, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, aim to improve the living standards of the common people through programs like the Krishak Card, agricultural loan waivers, and the Family Card initiative.
