The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a reduction in the price of furnace oil used for electricity generation. Effective from tonight, the new price will be Tk100.39 per litre.
This decision comes after a previous reduction in July, where the price was lowered from Tk113.54 per litre to Tk109.10 per litre. The new rate for August represents a further decrease.
Furnace oil is a critical component in the generation of electricity, particularly in thermal power plants. The reduction in price is expected to have a positive impact on the cost of electricity production.
The BERC's move to adjust the price of furnace oil is part of ongoing efforts to manage energy costs and ensure stable electricity supply in the country.
Stakeholders in the energy sector will be closely watching the impact of this price reduction on both production costs and consumer electricity prices in the coming months.
