Standard Chartered Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers' Association (BMMOA) to introduce an exclusive suite of banking privileges for Bangladeshi mariners. This initiative reaffirms the bank's commitment to delivering customer-centric solutions for Bangladesh's diverse professional communities. Mariners, who often spend extended periods away from home, require banking solutions that are accessible, flexible, and tailored to their globally mobile lifestyle. In response, Standard Chartered has developed a dedicated banking proposition that includes Priority Banking privileges, preferential lending rates, processing fee waivers on retail lending facilities, annual fee waivers on eligible credit and debit cards, and a range of exclusive banking benefits. Eligible new and existing mariner clients will also enjoy dedicated onboarding benefits, with newly onboarded clients eligible for cashback upon meeting the applicable eligibility and balance requirements. These benefits are designed to simplify, make more convenient, and enhance the banking experience for mariners at every stage of their financial journey.
Lutful Habib, managing director & Head of Wealth and Retail Banking at Standard Chartered Bangladesh, emphasized the bank's commitment to understanding the unique needs of its clients. He stated, 'At Standard Chartered Wealth & Retail Banking, we believe meaningful banking begins with understanding the people we serve. Through this partnership, we are bringing them a dedicated set of banking privileges designed around their unique professional journey and financial needs.'
Captain Md. Anam Chowdhury, president of the Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers' Association, highlighted the significance of this collaboration. He noted, 'Standard Chartered has recognized the distinct needs of mariners and developed this collaboration around the realities of their profession. Through this partnership, our members will receive relevant banking privileges that can make their financial lives simpler, more convenient, and more rewarding.'
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both organizations. This partnership reflects Standard Chartered's dedication to combining global expertise with local insight to deliver relevant financial solutions that create lasting value for its clients. The collaboration is expected to significantly benefit mariners in Bangladesh by providing them with tailored banking services that address their specific needs and challenges.
