A witness, Haidar Bin Chader, testified that he found a large wound on the left side below the waist of Imam Hasan Taim. This testimony was given during the 20th witness statement in the human rights violation case related to Taim's murder. Taim, the son of a police officer, was killed during the July uprising in 2024.
Haidar Bin Chader, a resident of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila, stated in his testimony that Taim's body was brought to them on the afternoon of July 21, 2024. They took the body to Rajarbag Police Lines, where the Sunni Imam of Rajarbag Police Lines Jame Masjid, his assistant, and Haidar himself performed the ghusl (ritual washing) of Taim's body. During the ghusl, they noticed the large wound on Taim's body.
The witness mentioned that Taim's father and two other police officers were shown the wound. They discussed that the wound was likely caused by a pistol shot. Haidar Bin Chader called for the trial of those involved in the incident, including the deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister.
The case has a total of 11 accused, with 9 of them being fugitives. The fugitives include former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman, former Joint Commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, and others. The two accused currently in prison are former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station Abul Hasan and former SI Mohammad Shahdat Ali. Taim's father, Mohammad Moynal Hossain Bhuiyan, is a Sub-Inspector (SI) at Rajarbag Police Lines. Taim was a 12th-grade student at Narayanganj Government Adamjeenagar MW College when he was killed on July 20, 2024, near the Jatrabari Kazla Pedestrian Bridge.
