A court in Dhaka has placed Tanim Reza Bappi and his associate Rakibul Islam Bhuiyan on a seven-day remand each in a case related to the alleged extortion of a businessman. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam issued the order after police presented the duo before the court and requested a seven-day remand for each of them. Police arrested Bappi from the capital's Dilkusha area and Rakibul from the Kamalapur area. During a subsequent raid at Bappi's office in South Kamalapur, law enforcers recovered a foreign-made revolver, two foreign-made pistols, five rounds of revolver ammunition, two rounds of pistol ammunition, two magazines, an electric stun gun, and a Chinese-made axe.
Extortion Allegations
According to the case documents, the accused contacted complainant Ismail Hossain on May 15 and allegedly pressured him to appoint a person nominated by them as a partner in the sacrificial cattle market. Bappi is also accused of demanding Taka 10 lakh in extortion.

The case documents further state that the accused opened fire at Ismail's office on May 19. Ismail filed the case with Motijheel Police Station the following day.
