A platform named 'Insaf Kayemkari Chhatra-Sramik-Janata' has demanded the cancellation of the lease process of the New Moore Terminal of Chittagong Port to the UAE company DP World, claiming it undermines the country's sovereignty.

The demand was made at a rally held at Falahiyya Chattar in Malibagh Mor, Dhaka on Friday. The organization later issued a press release with this information.

The convener of the organization, Muhammad Arif Al Khabir, said that the New Moore Terminal of Chittagong Port is a highly advanced and profitable terminal. He claimed that the US Indo-Pacific strategy is involved in this and accused the US of trying to use Bangladesh as a proxy against China.

The organization's general secretary, Kazi Ahmad, said that DP World is a UAE company and the UAE has signed the Abraham Accord with Israel and the US. He claimed that the UAE is working against Islam and Muslims in the Middle East and expressed concern that the UAE might do the same in Bangladesh.

The organization put forward a six-point demand at the rally, including canceling the lease process of the New Moore Terminal of Chittagong Port to foreigners; canceling the contract between APM Terminal and Laldia Terminal of the port and the contract between Meghalaya and Pangaon Terminal; and operating all terminals of Chittagong Port through domestic operators.
