Police in Tejgaon Industrial Area have registered a case of abetment to suicide following allegations that a housewife was murdered for dowry and the incident staged as suicide. The victim's family claims she was killed by her husband and in-laws for not providing additional dowry.

Jeasmin Akhter, known as Bithi (29), was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Kunipara area of Tejgaon Industrial Area. Her family alleges that her husband, Al Amin, and his family members strangled her to death for dowry and then hung her body from a ceiling fan to make it look like a suicide.

Jeasmin's father, Mo. Elias Byapari, filed a murder case at Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station, but the police registered it as a case of abetment to suicide. The main accused, Jeasmin's husband Al Amin, has been arrested and sent to jail. Efforts are underway to arrest Jeasmin's father-in-law Moktar Hossain and his wife.

Police say the case was registered based on Jeasmin's father's complaint. They may convert the case to a murder case if the post-mortem report supports it. Jeasmin's family claims she was subjected to mental and physical abuse for dowry for a long time and was killed in a planned manner when she failed to provide more money.
