In Panchagarh, local residents are actively supporting the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in thwarting 'push-in' attempts by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). The BGB has intensified surveillance along the border, and local villagers are joining in to patrol the area. Some residents have been provided with torches and whistles by the BGB to assist in their efforts.

On Wednesday morning, heightened BGB surveillance was observed in several border areas of Panchagarh, including Mirgard, Mistripara, and Haribhasa unions. Last Friday, the BSF attempted to push 10 individuals, including women and children, into Bangladesh through the border at Barobari-Pradhampaara, but they were unsuccessful due to the BGB's strong presence. The individuals remained in a narrow strip of land for approximately 69 hours before being returned by the BSF.

BGB sources indicate that Panchagarh district shares a 277.915 km border with India, with specific sections monitored by different BGB battalions. Local residents like Rafiqul Alam and Harez Ali have expressed their commitment to assisting the BGB in maintaining border security. Lieutenant Colonel Mo. Sirajul Islam, commanding officer of the Nilphamari 56 BGB Battalion, noted that 'push-in' attempts are frequently made but are consistently thwarted by the BGB's vigilance and the support of local residents.
