The 72-page verdict on the Pallab child rape and murder case has been sent to the High Court. Dhaka Metropolitan Child Repression Tribunal delivered the verdict on June 7, sentencing the main accused Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter to death. The verdict includes a 5 lakh fine for Sohel Rana and a 2 lakh fine for Swapna Akter.

The trial was completed in just four working days. On Tuesday afternoon, Tribunal office assistant Shahidul Islam carried the red-wrapped document to the High Court under police security.

Bench assistant Pankaj Peter Gomez confirmed to Prothom Alo that the 72-page document, including the 69-page verdict, has been sent to the High Court.

The child's body was recovered from a flat in Pallab on May 19. Sohel Rana fled the scene by breaking the bathroom grill, while his wife was arrested at the scene. Sohel was later arrested in Narayanganj's Fatulla.
