A young man was shot dead and another critically injured in two separate attacks in Khulna city today. Police recovered the bullet-riddled body of Emon Sheikh from a fish enclosure south of Aronghata Railway Station. In a separate incident, 24-year-old Arif Sikder was shot and hacked by unidentified assailants in the Labanchara area and is in critical condition at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Details of the Incidents

The body of Emon Sheikh, son of Sobhan Sheikh, was found in a fish enclosure near Aronghata Railway Station. Locals discovered the body and informed the police. A team from Aronghata Police Station arrived at the scene, followed by members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Aronghata Police Station Md Monirul Islam confirmed that Emon had a bullet wound to the head. The motive for the killing and the identities of the perpetrators remain unknown.

In a separate incident, Arif Sikder, son of Abul Kalam Sikder, was attacked by six assailants on two motorcycles near Rupsha Riverview Eco Park. A bullet struck Arif in the chest, and the attackers hacked him multiple times on both legs before fleeing. Locals rescued him and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Labanchara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharraf Hossain stated that the police are investigating to identify the assailants and determine the motive behind the attack.
