A businessman was shot and robbed in broad daylight in the Shapla Chattar area of Motijheel, Dhaka, on Sunday afternoon. The victim, identified as Mo. Lokman, who runs a 'Money Exchange' business, was injured and admitted to Mugda Medical College Hospital. According to witnesses, two individuals attempted to snatch a bag from Lokman, leading to a struggle during which he was shot. The assailants fled on a motorcycle with the bag, the contents of which remain unknown. Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Motijheel Division is investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Harun Or Rashid stated that multiple motorcycles were present at the scene and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the robbery. A police source mentioned that Lokman was being followed by a robbery gang, who blocked his path near Janata Bank before shooting him and making off with the bag.
