State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has emphasized that relief efforts for flood-affected communities must be delivered through coordinated efforts involving all government and non-government organizations. He stressed the importance of a unified response during a review and coordination meeting on the post-flood situation at the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Bandarban.
Call for Unified Response
Addressing senior officials from various government agencies, Mir Helal highlighted the directive from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman that all stakeholders must work together in a coordinated manner. He noted that uncoordinated efforts often compromise the quality and effectiveness of public services.
Sustainable Development Focus
Mir Helal called for replacing short-term, small-scale initiatives with long-term, sustainable development projects. He underscored the need to prevent waste of national resources and public funds, urging officials to maintain close coordination and eliminate communication gaps among implementing agencies.
Effective Utilization of Funds
The State Minister emphasized the effective utilization of development funds allocated by the ministry. He directed concerned departments to ensure timely implementation of projects, prevent misuse or wastage of allocated funds, and strengthen coordination to maximize public benefit.
Assessment and Rehabilitation
During the meeting, representatives from various organizations presented detailed assessments of the flood damage in Bandarban. They reviewed the current flood situation and discussed priority measures for relief, recovery, and rehabilitation, emphasizing the need to accelerate rehabilitation efforts for affected communities.
