A burglary occurred at the Attorney General's Office located in the Supreme Court area late Thursday night. Attorney General Ruhul Kuddus Kajal believes the incident was not just a theft but a planned act by a syndicate.
Sources from the Attorney General's Office reported that around 1:15 AM, a group of burglars broke the glass windows on the ground and second floors near the lift. They managed to take one piece of glass but fled when on-duty police and security personnel, Fazlul Haque and Mithun Baroi, pursued them.
Speaking to Prothom Alo on Friday, Attorney General Ruhul Kuddus Kajal said, 'Initially it seemed like a theft, but no such incidents have occurred in a long time. Recently, some of our office's legal officers and employees have been dismissed, and another was previously sent to jail for corruption. These corrupt individuals have been spreading propaganda and false information on Facebook and social media about my stance against corruption.'
Ruhul Kuddus added, 'I have instructed the police that last night's incident might be connected to these activities. When investigating, please look into this aspect as well.'
Inspector Jahangir Alam of Shahbag Police Station told Prothom Alo that the investigation is ongoing. No case or General Diary (GD) has been filed at Shahbag Police Station regarding this incident.
