Bangladeshi workers employed at Aerofoam Manufacturing (1969) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia have lodged a formal complaint with the Malaysian Human Resources Ministry's Labour Department (JTK) alleging non-payment of wages for three months, confiscation of passports, and lack of valid visas. The complaint was filed through the Migrant Welfare Network (MWN), a human rights platform advocating for the rights and protection of Bangladeshi migrant workers. The workers claim they have not received any wages for the past three months, making it difficult for them to meet daily expenses and send money back to their families in Bangladesh. Many workers had taken loans at high interest rates to travel to Malaysia, and are now under extreme mental stress due to their inability to repay these loans. Additionally, around 35 workers do not currently possess valid visas or work permits (PLKS), despite having entered Malaysia legally to work. The company has failed to renew their work permits on time, leaving these workers in constant fear of arrest or fines. Most workers also allege that their passports are being held by the company, which is against labour laws and restricts their freedom of movement. The workers have made several demands, including the immediate payment of outstanding wages, the validation of visas and work permits for 35 workers, the return of passports held by the company, the cessation of forced overtime work, the assurance of a safe working environment, and an investigation into high recruitment fees and irregularities in the immigration process. The workers hope that the Malaysian Labour Department will swiftly address this crisis through an investigation and ensure their legal protection. They have also requested that the company does not take any retaliatory actions or harass them for lodging this complaint.
