An elderly man was killed in a road accident at Nurbag Circle of Nowapara Bazar in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore district today. The deceased, Osman Fakir, 65, was hit by a Khulna-bound truck, sustaining critical injuries. Locals rushed him to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared dead by on-duty doctors. The truck was seized by locals, but the driver and helper fled the scene. Officer-in-Charge of Abhaynagar Thana confirmed the incident and stated that legal action will be taken.

Incident Details

The accident occurred when Osman Fakir was walking near Nurbag Circle. A speeding truck heading towards Khulna collided with him, causing severe injuries. Despite immediate rescue efforts by locals who took him to the nearby health complex, Osman succumbed to his injuries.

Police Response

Following the accident, locals seized the truck involved in the incident. However, the driver and helper managed to escape. Officer-in-Charge of Abhaynagar Thana, Mohammad Nuruzzaman, confirmed the incident and assured that legal proceedings will be initiated to address the matter.
