Local Government Deputy Minister: Eid Waste Must Be Removed Within 12 Hours

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Deputy Minister Mir Shah Alam emphasized the need for timely removal of Eid waste within 12 hours in all city corporations and municipalities.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Deputy Minister Mir Shah Alam stated that waste from sacrificial animals during Eid-ul-Azha must be removed within 12 hours (from 12 PM to midnight) in all city corporations and municipalities, including Bogura. Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has issued necessary directives in this regard.

During a discussion meeting held at Bogura City Corporation on Sunday afternoon, Mir Shah Alam mentioned that some city corporations have set a challenge to remove waste within seven to eight hours. He expressed confidence that Bogura City Corporation, being the Prime Minister's city and a new city corporation, will also take up the challenge and remove all waste within eight hours to provide relief to the city dwellers.

Mir Shah Alam highlighted various government development plans for Bogura City Corporation, including the formation of Bogura WASA for water supply and sanitation, and the ongoing process of establishing Bogura Development Authority (Bouk). He also mentioned the upcoming inauguration of Bogura Metropolitan Police, Bogura WASA, Bogura Development Authority, Bogura-Sirajganj railway line construction, and Bogura Football Stadium by the Prime Minister during her next visit to Bogura.

The deputy minister discussed plans to address traffic congestion in Bogura, including the introduction of air-conditioned bus services and the removal of three railway gates within the city. He mentioned that a team of experts from BUET has been tasked with assessing the feasibility of constructing overpasses at these railway gates.

Bogura City Corporation Administrator M R Islam announced that all waste in the city would be cleared by 8 PM on Eid day. The discussion meeting was also attended by Bogura-6 MP and District BNP President Rezaul Karim, Bogura District Administrator Taufiqur Rahman, and Police Super Saim Mahmud, among others.
