DMP Mobile Courts Resolve 5,209 Criminal Cases and 337 Traffic Cases in May

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) announced the resolution of 5,209 criminal cases through mobile courts in May.

In May, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) mobile courts resolved 5,209 criminal cases and 337 traffic cases. DMP's Special Metropolitan Magistrates conducted these proceedings. A total of 9,923 accused were arrested, with 5,953 receiving jail sentences. Fines totaling 22,65,400 Taka were collected, along with 78,282 Taka from auctions and seizures.

DMP's Law Officer, Mohammad Ataul Haque, stated that the resolved cases spanned Motijheel, Tejgaon, Wari, Gulshan, Mirpur, Ramna, Lalbagh, and Uttara divisions. Additionally, 39 special operations were conducted to maintain law and order. Under the Road Transport Act 2018, 1,300 traffic violation cases were filed, with 337 resolved and 6,64,500 Taka in fines collected. One accused received a jail sentence.

DMP highlighted that the immediate justice provided by Special Metropolitan Magistrates is increasing public trust in the judiciary and law enforcement, while instilling fear among criminals, thereby improving Dhaka's law and order situation.
