Dhaka Police Arrest 487 Crime Suspects in 24-Hour Anti-Crime Operation

Dhaka Metropolitan Police have arrested 487 crime suspects in a 24-hour operation, seizing drugs, cash, and other illicit items.

In a significant crackdown on crime, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 487 suspects across the capital over the past 24 hours. The operation led to the filing of 36 criminal cases. The highest number of arrests, 105, was made in Mirpur Division. Other notable arrests included 90 in Wari, 71 in Tejgaon, and 67 in Motijheel.

Seized Items and Arrests by Division

During the raids, police seized 2,566 yaba tablets, 164.665kg of cannabis, and 45 tapentadol tablets. They also recovered 84 mobile phones, two motorcycles, two SSD cards, two hard drives, a fake national identity card, a hand punch device, and 840,000 taka in cash. The arrests were part of routine operations conducted in various police station areas across Dhaka.

Legal Proceedings Underway

DMP stated that legal proceedings against those detained are currently underway. The operation underscores the police's ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the capital. The seized items and arrests highlight the prevalence of drug-related crimes and the need for continued vigilance and action by law enforcement.
