Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Deputy Minister Mir Shah Alam conducted a surprise inspection of waste management activities in Dhaka at night. On Wednesday around 11 PM, the Deputy Minister visited the Kakoli area of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) with Chief Waste Management Officer Humayun Kabir. He spent an hour inspecting waste removal and cleanliness activities in Kakoli and nearby areas, inquiring about waste accumulation, removal times, and on-ground worker performance. This follows Prime Minister Tareq Rahman's earlier surprise inspection during Eid-ul-Azha, where he directed Dhaka's two city corporations to ensure swift waste removal and cleanliness to reduce public suffering. During his night-time visit, Deputy Minister Mir Shah Alam emphasized zero tolerance for negligence in waste management, stressing the need for increased field-level supervision to prevent public inconvenience. He highlighted the importance of regular and timely waste removal for a clean and livable Dhaka, warning of accountability for any negligence.
