A case has been filed in Mongla Thana regarding the attack and vandalism at the Coast Guard station in Mongla, Bagerhat. The case, filed by Coast Guard contingent commander Mo. Shahidur Rahman Shahin, names 44 individuals and accuses around 250-300 others. Among the accused are Mukta Khatun, the wife of missing fisherman Miraj Sheikh, along with his sister Liza Islam and mother Taslima Begum. Six individuals, including three named in the FIR, have been arrested and sent to jail.

The incident occurred following tensions between the Coast Guard and locals over the disappearance of fisherman Miraj Sheikh. The Coast Guard alleges that on June 11, a mob armed with sharp weapons attacked the station, causing damage to government property and equipment worth approximately Tk 2.25 crore. The FIR states that 45 blank rounds were fired in self-defense to disperse the crowd.

Local residents claim that the incident was triggered by the disappearance of Miraj Sheikh, whose family has been searching for him for two months. The Coast Guard suspects involvement of forest bandits and their associates in the attack.
