Tamim Iqbal, the head of the ad-hoc committee organizing the election and former national team captain, has been elected as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) with the highest number of votes. He secured 73 votes out of 76 cast by councilors in the club category election, where 16 candidates competed for 12 positions.
In the district and divisional sports organizations category, 7 out of 10 directors were elected unopposed. Elections were held only in Khulna and Barisal divisions. In Barisal, Mijanur Rahman, owner of BPL team Fortune Barisal, defeated Muntasir Alam to become a BCB director. In Khulna, Shantanu Islam and Shafiqul Alam were elected as directors.
The university and various organizations category saw Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir elected unopposed as a director. The new BCB president will be elected today through the directors' votes, with Tamim Iqbal being the likely candidate.
