However, McCullum continues to lead England's white-ball teams, recently guiding them to a 4-0 T20 series win over India and a 27-run victory in the ODI series at Lord's.
England's white-ball teams have shown significant progress, highlighted by their recent performances. The ODI victory over India marked England's first series win against them since 2018. Despite this success, the Test team has struggled, with seven defeats in their last nine matches. The upcoming home series against Pakistan will be a critical test for the new coach.
When asked about working with a new Test coach, McCullum emphasized a collaborative approach. "I think once the new coach is put in place, we'll have a good conversation around everything. As long as everyone wants what is right for English cricket, there will be some give and take on certain things," he said.
Several candidates are being considered for the Test coach position, including Jonathan Trott and Justin Langer. Former England coach Andy Flower has ruled himself out of the running. McCullum remains focused on the growth and development of the white-ball teams, particularly ahead of next year's ODI World Cup in southern Africa.
