Pacer Hasan Mahmud has returned home before the conclusion of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) to join Bangladesh's preparation camp ahead of the upcoming tour of Australia. Fellow Bangladeshi fast bowler Ripon Mondal has been named as his replacement in the Colombo Kaps squad for his first stint in the LPL.
Hasan's Departure and Ripon's Arrival
Before leaving Sri Lanka, Hasan spoke with Ripon and wished him well in his new role. "Give your best, and respect my place as a replacement," Hasan said about the conversation between him and Ripon while talking to the reporters. Hasan delivered consistent performances in four LPL matches, earning praise for his bowling. Although his departure is a setback for Colombo Kaps, he believes that Ripon is capable of filling the void.
Experience and Future Prospects
Beyond his performances on the field, Hasan said he was deeply impressed by Sri Lanka's cricket culture. He praised the country's rich cricketing tradition, professional environment, and the dedication of its players, saying the experience had inspired him. During his stint with Colombo Kaps, Hasan also worked with former Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara.
Hasan revealed that Kulasekara was pleased with his bowling action and overall skills. "The discussions mainly revolved around tactical aspects of fast bowling and ball grip techniques," he said. Hasan also explained the LPL's payment structure. According to tournament regulations, players receive 25 percent of their contracted remuneration at the start of the tournament, while the remaining amount is paid based on the number of matches they play. As Hasan's replacement, Ripon Mondal will receive his remuneration under the same system.
Hasan's return to Bangladesh and Ripon's entry into the LPL highlight the dynamic nature of professional cricket, where players are often called upon to balance national duties with international commitments.
