The holy month of Ramadan has commenced in Bangladesh following the sighting of the moon on Wednesday evening, as confirmed by the National Moon Sighting Committee. The decision was announced at a meeting held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The month will be observed from Thursday. Lailatul Qadr will be celebrated on the night of March 16.
Devotees began observing Taraweeh prayers after Isha prayers on Wednesday night, marking the beginning of the fasting period. Muslims will fast during daylight hours, breaking their fast at dusk with Sahur. The Islamic Foundation has requested all mosques to follow a standardized method for performing Taraweeh prayers throughout Ramadan.
Muslims worldwide observe Ramadan as a month of spiritual purification, fasting, and increased devotion. The month is highly revered for its blessings and is marked by the revelation of the Quran. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar began fasting on Wednesday, while Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and several other countries started on Thursday.
