In a recent meeting in Bagerhat, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, emphasized that politics should be a place for healthy cultural practice, free from terror and violence. He highlighted the importance of responsible journalism in presenting accurate information to the public and ensuring the safety of journalists.
Rahman criticized the Awami League, stating they have caused many families to suffer and continue to threaten others. He asserted that the Awami League is not yet ready to engage in politics responsibly. The meeting also stressed the need for freedom and professional safety for journalists.
The meeting was chaired by Bagerhat district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Rezaul Karim. Other notable leaders and activists from the Jamaat-e-Islami's Bagerhat unit, as well as local MPs, attended the conference and discussed various political issues.
