Patients are leaving Ad-Din Hospital in Moghbazar, Dhaka, after its license was canceled following the deaths of six newborns. Critical patients are still being treated. Ad-Din Foundation authorities plan to appeal the government's decision to cancel the license by next Sunday.
According to the hospital's public relations department, 416 patients were admitted as of Thursday when the license was canceled. Since then, 173 patients have left, leaving 243 still admitted, including 50 newborns in the NICU, 13 in the ICU, and 6 in the CCU.
Tariqul Islam Mukul, Director (Company Affairs) of Ad-Din Foundation, told Prothom Alo, 'Most of the patients still under treatment are in critical condition. They are receiving treatment. They cannot suddenly go elsewhere.'
The hospital is no longer admitting new patients, and emergency services are completely shut down. However, critically ill patients continue to receive treatment. Some patients and their families have expressed anger outside the hospital.
Ad-Din Foundation's Director Tariqul Islam Mukul announced plans to appeal the government's decision to cancel the hospital's license. He expressed hope that the government would allow the hospital to continue normal operations in the public interest.
