Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to attend a daylong national-level 'Startup, Science Project and Innovation Idea Showcasing' programme tomorrow at 2pm. The event, featuring secondary-level teachers and students, will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center. The premier will also distribute awards to teachers and students for their contributions and innovative projects.
Programme Details
Organized under the Educational Excellence Support Scheme (EESS) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), the event aims to enhance students' talents, foster joyful learning, and develop them into responsible citizens. The central theme is 'A Nation of Talent, Science, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation-Bangladesh Leads the Way.'
The top 100 teams, selected from district and metropolitan-level competitions, will present their innovative projects. Each team comprises three students and two teachers. The upazila-level event on June 12 saw 8,029 teams, including 27,204 students and 16,058 teachers, participate. From these, 546 teams presented at the district level on June 14.
Awards and Recognition
The top 10 teams will receive trophies, while teachers and students will be honored with 'Meritorious Teacher in Quality Education Award' and 'Meritorious Innovative Student Award' respectively. Award-winning teachers will receive BDT 30,000 and a certificate, and students will receive BDT 20,000 and a certificate.
Tree Plantation Campaign
In addition to the showcasing programme, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate a nationwide tree-plantation campaign at the same venue. The campaign aims to plant 25 crore saplings within five years under the 'One Child, One Tree' initiative. Each of the 29,621 secondary educational institutions will plant one fruit tree, one timber tree, and one medicinal tree.
The campaign will be broadcast live on large screens at every educational institution, allowing participants to join via video conferencing with the Prime Minister. Educational institutions are requested to make necessary preparations, including displaying climate awareness banners and organizing rallies.
