The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has recommended the procurement of refined fuel oil worth Tk 16,088.52 crore under government-to-government agreements.

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has recommended the approval of a proposal to import refined fuel oil worth an estimated Tk 16,088.52 crore for the July-December 2026 period under government-to-government (G2G) agreements with six state-owned foreign suppliers. The decision was made at the committee’s 33rd meeting of 2026, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat. The Energy and Mineral Resources Division proposed importing refined petroleum products from six G2G suppliers in line with the agreed premium, quantity and prevailing reference prices.

Key Decisions by the Cabinet Committee

Besides the fuel oil procurement, the committee recommended several major development and infrastructure-related procurement proposals. These include:

- Awarding a Tk 125.99 crore contract for constructing 15 government primary schools-cum-flood shelters in Bogura district under the World Bank and Bangladesh government-financed Resilient Infrastructure for Adaptation and Vulnerability Reduction (RIVER) project.

- Approving a Tk 49.14 crore proposal under the Industries Ministry for constructing a 10,000-metric-ton fertilizer buffer warehouse at Lakshmipur.

- Recommending the revised levelized tariff for purchasing electricity from the Ashuganj 450 MW Combined Cycle (North) Power Plant operated by Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited.

- Awarding three procurement proposals under the Prime Minister’s Office relating to the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), including contracts for road networks in Sub-Zones 6, 7, 11 and 18 of the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) at Mirsharai, Chattogram, and the Power Network project.
