Two Women Arrested for Possessing 4 kg of Ganja in Rangpur

The Department of Narcotics Control arrested two women with four kilograms of smuggled ganja in Rangpur.

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested two women with four kilograms of smuggled ganja from the Nachchnia area under Mahiganj Police Station of Rangpur metropolis today. The arrestees are Most Rubina Begum, 41, wife of Md Minhajul Islam, and Most Sabina Yasmin alias Yasmin, 25, wife of Md Rubel, both from village Gorak Mandal under Phulbari Police Station of Kurigram district.

Operation and Seizure

Based on a tip-off, a team of the Rangpur DNC searched a Rangpur-bound passenger bus from Kurigram at the Nachchnia area on the Kurigram-Rangpur highway. They seized the narcotics and arrested the women at around 1:30 pm, according to a press release issued tonight.

Legal Action and Context

Inspector of the DNC Narcotics, Rangpur S M Eltas Uddin filed a case in this connection with Mahiganj Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police. The arrested persons along with the seized drugs have been handed over to the police station. Ganja, a psychoactive drug, is illegal in Bangladesh, and its trafficking is a serious criminal offense. The DNC continues to crack down on drug smuggling and distribution networks across the country.
