Six-Year-Old Schoolboy Killed by Bakery Van in Cumilla Road Accident

A six-year-old schoolboy was killed after being run over by a bakery delivery van in Cumilla.

A six-year-old schoolboy was killed after being run over by a bakery delivery van in Ulukandi (Purba Para) village under Balrampur union of Titas upazila in Cumilla district on Wednesday. The deceased, Md. Alif Hossain, was a first-grade student at Ulukandi Government Primary School and the younger son of Md. Delwar Hossain, a Bangladeshi expatriate living in Malaysia. Alif was crossing the road after school to visit a relative on the opposite side when a delivery van struck and ran over him. Following the accident, the driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled.

Incident Details

Local residents rescued the critically injured child and rushed him to the Titas Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, the attending physician referred him to a hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment. However, Alif died on the way to the capital.

Police Investigation

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mamirul Haque of Titas Police Station said that no formal complaint had yet been filed regarding the incident. He added that police were looking into the matter.
