In a significant move to support the cultural sector, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, through the district administration, has distributed a grant of Taka 25 lakh among 74 cultural personalities and 29 cultural organizations in Rangpur. The grant was given as part of the government's ongoing initiative to patronize regional artists and support poor cultural organizations across the country.
Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Mohammad Ruhul Amin distributed the cheques at a function held at his conference room in the city on Monday afternoon. The event saw the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ramiz Alam, who presided over the function, along with other notable guests including Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md Shariful Islam, District Cultural Officer KM Arifuzzaman, Rangpur Cultural Unity Council President Mahmudunnabi Dollar, Rangpur Musical Bands Association (RAMBA) President Jahir Alam Nayan, and JASAS Rangpur District President Md Nuruzzaman Manik.
This initiative underscores the government's commitment to nurturing and promoting cultural activities at the grassroots level. By providing financial assistance, the government aims to encourage cultural personalities and organizations to continue their efforts in enriching the cultural landscape of the region.
