State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam announced today that Bogura's development programs will be executed in alignment with the national development activities, following directives from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Alam highlighted that Bogura's development had been stalled for an extended period due to political vendetta.
Key Development Projects
Among the significant projects, Alam mentioned the upgrading of Bogura Airport to international standards and the approval of the first air base of the Bangladesh Air Force for the northern region. The new fighter jets to be inducted into the Bangladesh Air Force will be stationed at the Bogura airport.
Economic and Infrastructure Initiatives
The State Minister also revealed plans for a drone manufacturing factory in Bogura, a joint venture with Turkey. Addressing the long-standing demand from the northern region, Alam announced the commencement of a 72-kilometer railway connection from Sirajganj to Bogura, which is expected to save Taka 122 crore and eliminate the need for a separate road.
Educational and Social Developments
In the educational sector, Alam discussed the transformation of Bogura University into a multi-dimensional Bogura Science and Technology University, a proposal that has been presented in parliament. He also addressed the division and renaming of Union Parishads in Bogura, following Prime Minister's instructions.
Future Prospects and Local Government Elections
Shahe Alam concluded by mentioning the upcoming local government elections and the budget allocation for conducting elections at five levels of local government. The Election Commission has initiated preparations for these elections.
