Bangladesh Transfers 767 Sub-Assistant Engineers via Lottery for Enhanced Transparency

Bangladesh's Ministry of Housing and Public Works has transferred 767 sub-assistant engineers using a lottery system to ensure transparency and impartiality.

The Ministry of Housing and Public Works has transferred 767 sub-assistant engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD) through a lottery system for the first time. The initiative aims to ensure transparency and impartiality in the transfer process. Supervised by Additional Secretary Md Sarowar Alam, the lottery was held at the PWD Bhaban conference room. The ministry spokesperson stated that this initiative sets a new benchmark for transparency in transfers and postings under its agencies.

According to the lottery results, 317 engineers were posted to Dhaka Division, 133 to Chattogram, 74 to Khulna, 73 to Rajshahi, 64 to Rangpur, 44 to Barishal, 33 to Sylhet, and 29 to Mymensingh.

Sarowar Alam highlighted that the lottery-based transfer system ensures transparency, impartiality, and accountability, introducing an effective and modern method in human resource management. Additional Chief Engineer Kazi Md Firoz Hasan noted that this initiative strengthens confidence, fairness, and transparency among engineers.

PWD Chief Engineer Md Khalekuzzaman Chowdhury, Joint Secretaries Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and Fauzia Khan, and other concerned officials witnessed the newly adopted process. This move is expected to enhance the efficiency and integrity of human resource management within the PWD.
