Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal Initiates Tree Plantation Drive in Rajshahi

The Rajshahi branches of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal have inaugurated a tree plantation program aimed at enhancing green cover and combating climate change.

The 'Tree Plantation Program-2026' was launched by the Rajshahi City and District branches of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal at Hargram Notunpara Graveyard in Rajshahi City. This initiative is part of a broader five-year, 25-crore tree plantation program announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to conserve the environment, increase green cover, and combat the adverse effects of climate change.

Program Details and Objectives

The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has committed to planting two lakh fifty thousand trees in the next year, with one lakh saplings being planted in the first phase. The program aligns with the government's electoral commitment to plant 25 crore trees over five years. RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton emphasized the need for cooperation from all city dwellers to achieve these goals and transform Rajshahi into a greener and healthier city.

Key Participants and Support

The program was inaugurated by Ariful Islam Zia, founding president of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Peshajibi Dal. Special guests included General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee Engineer Mohammad Shahidul Islam Russel, Vice-Presidents Mohammad Arfin and S Mizanur Rahman Ohid, Professor Dr. Muhammad Nesar Uddin Talukder, and S A Musa, along with leaders from various organizations and committees.
