Police have arrested 30 people in separate operations carried out in three areas of Dhaka as part of an ongoing drive against crime, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said. According to a DMP statement, officers from Mugda, Uttara West and Turag police stations arrested 10 people each during raids conducted on Sunday in areas identified as crime hotspots.
Raids Target Crime Hotspots
Those detained include suspects in regular criminal cases, individuals wanted under arrest warrants and others allegedly linked to various offences, police said. The targeted areas have been identified as hotspots for criminal activities, prompting the DMP to intensify its efforts to curb crime in these regions.
Seized Substances and Minor Detained
Officers at Uttara West police station also recovered 40 grams of cannabis during the operation, while Turag police said one child in conflict with the law was among those detained. The seizure of cannabis indicates that drug-related activities are part of the criminal landscape in these areas.
Legal Action Underway
The DMP said legal action against the suspects is under way. The arrests and seizures are part of a broader strategy to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in the capital.
Significance for Dhaka Residents
These operations are significant for Dhaka residents as they aim to reduce crime rates and create a safer environment. The involvement of a minor in criminal activities also highlights the need for preventive measures and rehabilitation programs for at-risk youth.
