Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain visited the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), commonly known as Pangu Hospital, to see those injured in the wall collapse in Mirpur. During the visit, he inquired about the condition of the injured and spoke with the attending physicians. He also assured them of all possible government support.
Earlier on Tuesday, two people were killed and six others injured after a wall of Mirpur University College collapsed on people waiting in line to buy TCB products in the capital's Mirpur area. Of the injured, five are undergoing treatment at Pangu Hospital, while one is receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The wall collapse occurred as people gathered to purchase essential commodities from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) sales point. The incident has raised concerns about structural safety in the area.
The Health Minister's visit aimed to provide moral support to the victims and their families, as well as to ensure that they receive the best possible medical care. The government's prompt response underscores its commitment to public safety and welfare.
Further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the wall collapse and to prevent similar incidents in the future. The local administration has been directed to conduct a thorough inspection of nearby structures to ensure their safety.
