South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Jijoon Kim today visited the Samsung manufacturing plant of Fair Electronics in Shibpur, Narsingdi. Accompanied by Samsung Bangladesh Managing Director Jungmin Jung, the ambassador reaffirmed South Korea's commitment to supporting Bangladesh's industrialisation. He highlighted Fair Electronics as a successful example of technology transfer, local manufacturing, and industrial development under the Bangladesh–South Korea partnership.

Commitment to Manufacturing Sector

Ambassador Kim emphasized Bangladesh's enormous potential in the manufacturing sector. He noted that the combination of a hardworking workforce, supportive government policies, and Korean technology could transform Bangladesh into a regional manufacturing hub.

Importance of NEIR

The ambassador stressed the importance of effective implementation and strict enforcement of the National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR) to protect the local mobile manufacturing industry, prevent customs and tax evasion, and ensure fair market competition.

Fair Group's Vision

Fair Group Chairman Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub said the company remains committed to strengthening Bangladesh's manufacturing sector through global partnerships and technology transfer. Samsung Bangladesh Managing Director Jungmin Jung reaffirmed the company's long-term commitment to Bangladesh and its plans to expand local manufacturing through its partnership with Fair Electronics.

Fair Group Chief Marketing Officer Mohammad Mesbah Uddin highlighted that Fair Group began as Samsung's official distribution partner in 2014. It launched local manufacturing in 2017 and introduced Bangladesh's first locally manufactured Samsung smartphone in 2018, marking a significant milestone in the country's industrial development.
