The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three (R) three due to weather conditions in the North Bay and adjoining areas. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued the advisory in its latest marine warning bulletin.

Weather Advisory Details

All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice. The BMD reported that a well-marked low over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas has weakened into a low-pressure system now located over central Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. This low-pressure system is expected to weaken gradually. However, a steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and adjoining areas.

Potential Impacts

The BMD warned that squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. Signal number three indicates that port operations should proceed with caution, and small vessels should remain in port.

Significance for Bangladesh

This advisory is crucial for ensuring the safety of maritime operations and fishermen in the region. By keeping signal three hoisted, ports can better manage incoming and outgoing vessels, reducing the risk of accidents during adverse weather conditions. Fishermen are also advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety at sea.

What Happens Next

The BMD will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary. Maritime ports are expected to maintain signal three until the weather conditions improve. Fishermen and vessel operators should stay informed through regular updates from the BMD to ensure their safety.
