The British High Commission in Dhaka hosted a reception to honor Bangladesh's contingent for the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The event, held at the British High Commissioner's residence, celebrated the longstanding friendship and cooperation in sports between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. Attendees included members of the Bangladesh team, team officials, distinguished former athletes, representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bangladesh Olympic Association officials, Ambassadors and Diplomats, and representatives of various organizations.
UK High Commissioner Sarah Cooke extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the athletes and officials. She emphasized that the Commonwealth Games promote friendship, harmony, respect for diversity, and mutual cooperation among Commonwealth nations. Cooke encouraged Bangladesh's athletes to compete with determination and uphold the national flag with pride.
Saiful Islam, Chef de Mission of the Bangladesh contingent and treasurer of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, delivered the welcome address. He expressed sincere gratitude to the British High Commission for hosting the reception, describing it as a valuable source of inspiration and motivation for the athletes and officials. The reception inspired renewed enthusiasm, motivation, and confidence among the participants ahead of the Games.
