Two young men tragically died from electrocution while attempting to catch fish in Porsha upazila of Naogaon district.

Two young men died after being electrocuted while attempting to catch fish in Porsha upazila of Naogaon district on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1 pm at Katkoil Bilpara village under Mashidpur Union of the upazila. The deceased were identified as Abdul Aziz, 27, son of late Abdul Gafur, and Mahbur Rahman, 28, son of Shafiuddin. Both were residents of Katkoil Bilpara village.

According to local sources, the victims were installing an electric motor to drain water from a pond for catching fish. One of the victims was electrocuted while connecting the motor to the power supply, and the other was fatally electrocuted while attempting to rescue him.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Porsha Police Station Ziaur Rahman confirmed the incident, stating he visited the scene after receiving the information. Necessary legal procedures are underway, he added.
