Digha Jagannath Temple Name Altered: 'Dham' Removed After Government Change

Following a change in government, the 'Dham' word has been removed from the name of the Jagannath Temple in Digha, West Bengal.

Following the political change in West Bengal, the 'Dham' word has been removed from the name of the Jagannath Temple in Digha. The temple, established during the Trinamool Congress government, was inaugurated in April 2021 by then Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The new name will be Digha Jagannath Temple. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari announced the change, stating it aligns with traditional Hindu culture. The entire complex will now be known as Shri Shri Jagannath Cultural Center. The decision has been welcomed by the temple's trustees and chief priest.
