Police arrested AFM Ahsanul Habib (51) and Mo. Nuruzzaman (43) from Madaripur Sadar Upazila on charges of irregularities and supplying rotten food in the school feeding (mid-day meal) project. According to a press release from the Education Ministry, they were arrested from Chandmari area in Madaripur Municipality following a case filed against the involved institution for irregularities. They were later sent to court. The arrested individuals were responsible officials at Samata Traders, directly involved in the food supply activities under the school feeding project. Their arrest followed an investigation revealing their role in supplying unfit and spoiled food. Several students fell ill after consuming mid-day meal food in a few schools in Madaripur Sadar and Chapai Nawabganj Sadar Upazilas, leading to media coverage and a government decision to take swift and strict action against the culprits. The Primary and Mass Education Minister requested the district administrators of Chapai Nawabganj and Madaripur to form a committee including the Civil Surgeon to address the issue and take immediate action against those involved in the irregularities.
