Rangpur Police Arrest 19 Individuals, Seize Drugs in 24-Hour Operations

Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) has arrested 19 individuals and confiscated a significant amount of contraband drugs in a series of 24-hour special anti-crime operations.

In a concerted effort to combat crime, the Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested 19 individuals and seized a substantial amount of contraband drugs during a series of 24-hour special anti-crime operations across the metropolis. The operations, which involved various units of the RpMP, resulted in the confiscation of 66 bottles of phensedyl-like syrup, 50 pieces of Yaba tablets, three grams of heroin, 100 grams of ganja, and a motorcycle from different locations.

According to a press release, the Detective Branch (DB) of RpMP, under the direction and supervision of Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, arrested 11 individuals in separate raids. These individuals were charged with consuming, carrying, and selling drugs such as ESkuf syrup, heroin, Yaba tablets, and ganja. Additionally, Haragachh Metropolitan police station arrested two warranted accused in a separate operation.

In another significant operation, RpMP's Hajirhat Metropolitan police station rescued a victim and arrested an accused person in a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000. Meanwhile, Tajhat Metropolitan police station arrested an alleged drug dealer with brewed liquor and an accused in an anti-discrimination student movement case.

Metropolitan Kotwali police station also made notable arrests, detaining two individuals with heroin and another with Yaba tablets. Legal action has been initiated against all arrested persons, the release added.

These operations highlight the RpMP's commitment to maintaining law and order and curbing the illegal drug trade within the metropolis. The sustained efforts of the police force aim to create a safer environment for the residents of Rangpur.
